REGISTRATION:

All players must check in with the SCGA upon arrival on Tuesday near the practice putting green.  The SCGA will have a player gift for each participant.  Players must check in with the Golf Shop if they wish to rent a golf cart - $20 per player. 

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS: 

The women’s match play bracket and pairings will be released on Friday, August 2 online at scga.org/womensmatchplay.

 

Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss and distribute to each player in the group.  Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf.  For example, the 8:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 8:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late.  Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time.  Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive in time to watch the group in front of them tee off.

 

PRACTICE ROUNDS:

Players may plan for practice rounds at their own expense by contacting the Pro Shop at (760) 931-7595. Practice rounds are available based upon availability. Identify yourself as a participant in the SCGA Match Play Championship to receive the applicable practice round rate.  Green fee:  $79.  Tee times are available on a space available basis during the following times:

 

  • Tuesday, July 30
  • Thursday, August 1
  • Sunday, August 4
  • Monday, August 5 after 2:00 p.m.

 

Rule 5.2a has been modified in this way for the Match Play Championship, “A player must not practice on the competition course before or between rounds during the match-play competition.” 

 

Penalty for first breach:  Loss of hole penalty; Penalty for second breach:  Disqualification.

 

FORMAT:

16 players will compete in single elimination match play.

Round 1 of Senior Men’s Match Play – 16 matches (32 players in groups of two)

Tee 1 – 10-minute intervals – 7:00 to 9:30 a.m.

                            

Round 1 of Men’s Match Play – 16 matches (32 players in groups of two)

Tee 1 – 10-minute intervals – 9:40 a.m. to 12:10 p.m.

 

Round 1 of Women’s Match Play – 8 matches (16 players in groups of two)

Tee 1 – 10-minute intervals – 12:20 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

                                                        

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 7   

Round 2 of Senior Men’s Match Play – 8 matches (16 players in groups of two)

Tee 1 – 10-minute intervals – 7:00 to 8:10 a.m.

                            

Round 2 of Men’s Match Play – 8 matches (16 players in groups of two)

Tee 1 – 10-minute intervals – 8:20 to 9:30 a.m.

 

Women’s Quarterfinals – 4 matches (8 players in groups of two)

Senior Men’s Quarterfinals – 4 matches (8 players in groups of two)

Tee 1 – 10-minute intervals – 12:00 to 12:30 p.m.

 

Men’s Championship Quarterfinals – 4 matches (8 players in groups of two)

Tee 1 – 10-minute intervals – 1:20 to 1:50 p.m.

 

Women’s Semifinals – 2 matches (4 players)

Tee 1 – 10-minute intervals – 2:40 p.m. and 2:50

 

THURSDAY, AUGUST 8        

Senior Men’s Semifinals – 2 matches (4 players in groups of two)

Tee 1 – 10-minute intervals 7:00 and 7:10 a.m.

 

Men’s Semifinals – 2 matches (4 players in groups of two)

Tee 1 – 10-minute intervals – 7:20 and 7:30 a.m.

 

Women’s 18 Hole Final – 1 match (2 players)

Tee 1 – 7:40 a.m.

                                          

Senior Men’s 18 Hole Final – 1 match (2 players)

Tee 1 – 12:00 p.m.

 

Men’s 18 Hole Final – 1 match (2 players)

Tee 1 – 12:10 p.m.

 

TEES AND YARDAGES: 

Women will play from the WHITE tees.  A variety of yardages on some holes will be played during the Championship. 

Course Rating: 77.8 / Slope 146 / Approx. 6,267 yards / Par 72

DRIVING RANGE:

The Driving Range will be open at 6:00 a.m. each day of the championship.  Range balls are provided compliments of the SCGA and Omni La Costa.

  • $239.00 per night (their best available rate is currently at $309.00)
  • Discounted Daily Resort Charge of $15.00 (traditionally $35.00)
  • Waived Self-Parking (traditionally $24.00 per vehicle/night)

FOOD SERVICE AND PURCHASES:

The Marketplace, Vue Restaurant and the Snack Bar near the 10th tee will be open during play each day. Players will be on their own for purchases each day.  The SCGA will issue a resort voucher to all players for each round they participate in during the championship.

 

RULES OF PLAY:

  • The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and the R&A govern play.

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION / PULL CARTS & PUSH CARTS:

Carts are optional at the player’s expense ($20 per player per day).  There will be a maximum of one cart per group and two bags per cart during the 1st round. Drivers must be at least 16 years of age (or older if club policy dictates).  Each player is entitled to one seat in a cart. If a player brings a caddie, the caddie may ride provided there is a vacant seat in one of the carts.  Otherwise, either the player or the caddie must walk. Pull carts and push carts are allowed.

 

CADDIES & SPECTATORS:

Players may provide their own caddie (See section on Automotive Transportation). Caddies must adhere to the dress code listed in section below. Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club.

 

DRESS CODE & CLUB POLICIES:

Players and caddies must be properly attired in golf shirts, slacks, Bermuda-length dress or golf shorts and soft spike shoes. Jeans (any color or any kind), T-shirts and tank tops will not be permitted.  Cell phones may only be used in your automobile or in the locker room.

 

CANCELLATIONS:

To withdraw for any reason prior to the start of an SCGA competition, a player must notify the SCGA Rules and Competitions Department at (818) 980-3630, or by clicking here. If a player needs to withdraw on the morning of the event, notify the SCGA staff person through the golf shop staff at the host venue. Failure to notify the SCGA will subject the player to suspension from future SCGA competitions. Requests for refunds prior to the entry closing date will be honored less a $20 administrative fee. Requests received after the entry closing date and 48 hours prior to the event will be honored less 50% of the entry fee. No refunds will be honored within 48 hours of the event.
